The 2010 Innovative Theatre Award Nominations, which honor excellence in New York’s Off-Off-Broadway theatre community, were announced at a sold out event in the West Village on Monday July 19th. The Milk Can Theatre Company has been nominated for five awards including 4 for Outstanding Original Short Script and Outstanding Ensemble for The Disorder Plays.
“We are very proud to have been honored, even prouder that we have dominated the Short Script category with 4 nominations.” says ML Kinney, Milk Can Co-Managing Director. “The Milk Can prides itself in the development of new work and providing writers and artists with the opportunity to take risks, collaborate and explore. To have four of our company members honored is only testament that our process is working. We are also exceedingly proud of our acting ensemble who was also nominated.”
Over the past six years, the IT Awards have honored over 1,000 individual artists, over 350 productions, and 250 theatre companies. The 2010 Nominees include 118 individual artists, 55 different productions and 50 Off-Off Broadway theatre companies. The Innovative Theatre Awards will be presented Sept. 20 in Manhattan.
